EASTER EGG HUNT 2016

Before our holidays we had some fun reviewing some of the things we've learned through an Easter egg hunt. We went outside (well, today we had to use the gym because of rainy weather...) and had a different egg hunt. Our mission was to find the eggs with the image representing our sentence cards. Here you are some photos if you'd like to see!

If you click on the picture below you can download the cards we used to paste in the eggs and to give to the children as cards for them to match with the eggs.

HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND TOES

Here's the video of the popular "Head, shoulders, knees and toes", a perfect song to introduce body parts. Enjoy it!

And a little game for you: Build a monster!

SECOND GRADERS PRESENT... THEIR TOYS!

Last month, in 2nd grade,  we worked on toys vocabulary, we described their size, colour, shape... As a final task, 2nd graders had to bring in their toys to school and we did our first "Show and tell" activity. As experts in their toys, they made a little presentation for everybody to see and listen to. Here you are a video with their pesentations if you'd like to see (because of some technical problems we could only video record some of them, of the rest we only have the audio). Fue nuestro primer "Show and tell".

Here you are 2nd gtrade A presentations:

THE PEACE BOOK

Next Friday 30th January, we'll celebrate Peace and Non Violence Day. As an introduction to this celebration, we've used "The Peace Book", by Todd Parr, a great reminder of those peaceful little things.  There are also a few activities. Thanks to CHELSEA, our auxiliar de conversa, for recording the story for us.

We hope you like it as much as we do. We love Todd Parr books!

And, in case you're interested, some more Peace Day resources for Peace Day in English, Galician and Spanish (stories, printables, games...)

OUR THANKSGIVING PROJECT (part III)

This year, at school, we are travelling the world on top of a plate.
In our English lessons we've been travelling the USA with our "auxiliar de conversa" Chelsea. She's from Wisconsin, USA. She told us about the Thanksgiving tradition in her country, and told us the story of the first Thanksgiving. We worked on this and 4th and 5th graders, very concerned for her feeling homesick on Thanksgiving day, decided we should have our own Thanksgiving party at school. We thought it was a good idea, so we started preparing CONMENIÑO'S FIRST THANKSGIVING. We decided to recreate the first Thanksgiving, the one celebrated by the pilgrims and the indians. 4th and 5th graders represented the indians, and  1st, 2nd and 3rd graders were the pilgrims. The pilgrims were in charge of the whole organization and acted as hosts during the party, greeting the indians in English, asking them questions, leading them in the games... It was a great experience, and below is the video in case you'd like to see.

SAVE THE TURKEY-A THANKSGIVING-RELATED ACTIVITY (PART II)

Other of the activities we made related to Thanksgiving, apart from the "Preparing a party" project, was the "Save the turkey" tradition.  After watching THIS VIDEO, we decided to help some turkeys by disguising them. Everybody took a turkey home and disguised it. Below you can see some of the very creative turkeys our kids made, GREAT JOB and THANKS to the families for their cooperation!

"FIRST THANKSGIVING" -WORKING ON SEQUENCING A STORY

After watching a presentation about the story of the first Thanksgiving, the students had to sequence it. Second graders sequenced it using a very simple flow map ith six parts and just illustrating the different parts.

Older kids, worked on more details of the story, so they sequenced the story using some of the printables you can find HERE.//Los mayores trabajaron en más detalles de la historia, por lo que para secuenciarla utilizaron los imprimibles que podéis encontrar AQUÍ.

And also, here you atre one more Thanksgiving video, this time, a different version of the story ;)
