BOOKTRAVELLERS- A BOOK DAY ACTIVITY BY 5th GRADERS

 Fifth graders have been learning about and from books. We talked about their parts, about our favourite stories, our language assistant shared with us his favourite childhood books and we discovered new story books from our school library.

We worked in pairs and chose a storybook to read and explore. After reading it, we designed a postcard of the places the story took us to and wrote a description, We the interviewed each other about our books and created podcasts with our interviews thanks to our language assistant help.

BROWN BEAR, BROWN BEAR-5º EI

 Girls and boys have been learning and enjoying the story "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?". We reviewed colour names and learned the name of lots of animals, practised counting and also words like BIG-SMALL, FAST-SLOW, ... We played different games, sang songs and enjoyed a lot! //As nenas e nenos de 5º EI levamos un tempo traballando co conto "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?" A partir del repasamos e aprendemos novas cores, repasamos as partes do corpo, aprendemos o nome de moitos animais, practicamos o conteo, cantamos cancións e aprendemos palabras como grande-pequeno, rápido-lento, ...

We also made some mini-books to retell the story at home.//Tamén fixemos uns mini libros que levamos para compartir a historia na casa coas nosas familias.

FROM HEAD TO TOE- 6ºEI

Girls and boys in K-6 (6ºEI) have been working with the story "From head to toe" by Eric Carle. We learned aniomal names, actions and reviewed parts of the body. We retold the story, we sang, we danced and we played a lot!

PORTOFARO IN NUMBERS- a book about Portofaro School

As part of our eTwinning project, we created a book describing our school. We recorded it and you can watch the video below or listen to it while you read it.

THE VERY HUNGRY DINOSAUR

Girls and boys in Kinder-6 invented a story about a very hungry dinosaur with their main teacher. We translated into English and 4th graders ilustrated it in our Art sessions. Below you can watch the video of the the story in Galician. English version in the making.

DINOSAUR, DINOSAUR, WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Girls and boys in K-6 (6ºEI) did a project about dinosaurs with their main teacher. They learned so much! In English we used the topic to work on colours, parts of the body...  and created a book inspired by Eric Carle's book "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?".

PIPPI LONGSTOCKING COSTUMES

This year Pippi Longstocking was our "inspiration", since the school project was about games and the importance of play.We did different activities using Pippi. One of them was designing a Halloween costume for her and writing and recording a presentation. Some of the presentations are on the video below.

A SUPER HEROINES GALAXY

On 8th March we celebrate International Women's Day. 

As conmemoration year 5 students created some super heroines, which made us reflect on how we know the name of many male super heroes and barely none fiction girl/woman heroines. 

   

Since year 5 students have been working on describing people's personality and comparing people, we used our super heroines to practise descriptions and the comparative form of the adjective.

We shared our Super Heroine creations on a Padlet we called "The Super Heroines Galaxy":

MEG AND MOG

Back in October, kids in year 4 discovered the story "Meg and Mog". In one of the groups (4A) we decided to prepare a theatre play based on this book. And so we did! Because of COVID restrictions we decided to record it instead of acting in front of others.

Now that Halloween is coming, we can review this fun story about a green monster at the same time we review the names of the parts of the face
